Stuck?! Scrapping

Nothing like leaving things to the last minute to get your scrapbooking mojo into gear.  Despite the fact that school holidays are finally here, my scrapping over the last week or so has been limited.  Between recovering from the flu, end of term madness and swimming for the boys not a lot of time has been spent at the scrap desk.  I have, however, spent just enough time today to tackle a few challenges.  One of my favourite challenges to have a got a each month are the sketch challenges over at Stuck?! Sketches.  I was able to get both sketches done - just in the nick of time because the deadline is midnight tonight ;)
Sept 1 Sketch:
And this is my take on it.  It has been quite a while since I have used such a large photo on a layout - so much so that I ended up trimming it down to the size that you see.  It did start out as a 12 x 8 :o
And a close-up of the bottom right hand corner of the sketch.  I decided to forgo a word title and use the date as the title instead. 'Parkhead' is the name of the property that we live on.  Strange name which I have never found out the meaning of.
Sept 15th Sketch:
My take on this layout didn't turn out exactly as I had planned thanks to a printing mistake on my part.  Silly me hit the wrong size when I printed it so I decided just to run with it and 'play' with positioning of the papers and embellishments.
And some close-ups of some Greatest View flair badges ... love them (but I think you could have guessed that already ;)
and the journalling ... also loving pulling out the old typewriter these days!
So those are my takes on the challenges this moth.  Always feels good to have more layouts ready to find homes in the albums.
Will be back tomorrow with more shares ;)

Colour Challenge - Scrapbooking from Scratch

Scrapbooking from Scratch DT Member, Kel has used this picture for people to use as the inspiration for this month's colour challenge:
Who doesn't love Black, Blue and Yellow???? I don't like these colours, I LOVE them!!! I used a dodgy picture of Mitch I took on my iPad last Christmas to come up with this:
Halfway through last year, Mitchell fell in love with reading.  While he had always read his home readers without any fights, it was rare to see him read anything else.  I am not sure what changed him but all I can say is that I love it when kids read voluntarily, especially boys.  He received the Diary of a Whimpy Kid box set for his birthday at the start of December and had finished them before the end of the school holidays ... not too bad for someone who spent 3 of those 6 weeks away from home.
I hope I get to play with the SFS challenges more in future. This was fun!

Kraft it Up

I can't recall if I have ever had a go at a Kraft it Up challenge but I found myself with a few spare hours on the weekend so what better way to spend it than creating. For those of you not in the know, the essence of Kraft it Up challenge is to use Kraft cardstock or Kraft patterned paper as the basis of your layout.  Coupled it with the monthly challenge and you have yet another layout for your album. Gotta love that ;)
This month's challenge was a colour challenge:
And this is what I came up with a layout using photos of Lachlan playing soccer this season.  Gotta love it when the team colours fit perfectly with the challenge.
And some close-ups:
A super cute embellishment from Charm's Creations:
And my journalling and a new button from Greatest View:
I have to say it, I actually like this layout ... wonders will never cease.

September Sketch Challenge - Anna's Craft Cupboard...

... has been up since the start of the month.  I often struggle with circles on layouts so I decided to skip the circle altogether.  Add in a bit of flipping and the sketch went from this:
to this:
My littlest man having lunch in the paddock during this season's harvest ... no chance of getting him home when there are headers, tractors, chaser bins and cotton pickers are around ;)
Not a bad attempt, even if I say so myself.

Savvy Cyber Crop Part Two

... back again with more shares from Savvy's Cybercrop.  Next on the list to share is Sara's Colour Challege.  In this challenge we had to use white/cream, green, turquoise/aqua blue, yellow (or at least, that is how I interpreted the colours lol).  Here is what I came up with:
Next was Kerryn's Puzzle Challenge.  With this challenge we had to use at least 5 of the 7 challenge pieces - star, circle, banner, square, splotches, arrow, exclamation mark -  Kerryn gave us.  In the end I am fairly sure I used all 7 pieces as well as an unusual colour combination for me - orange and brown ;)
Love this photo of Lachie, our little farmer boy
Some Greatest View goodness layered over a crochet doily
Last, but not least, was Sar's Blind Scrap Challenge.  With this challenge Sar gives us a set of instructions and we create the layout from that.  A few days later, she reveals her original layout so we can compare it to our own. I always manage to misinterpret things lol
Some Purple Pumpkin and October Afternoon ;)
Phew, that is all for now for the Savvy shares.  Hope to get some more challenges done before the month ends.
Take care.

Savvy CyberCrop Shares Part One

Last weekend I made time to participate in the monthly cybercrop over at Scrapbook Savvy ... it was the first time in a long time.  I surprised myself and completed all FIVE challenges (yes I even surprised myself). The first layout I am going to share is from Sar's 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 challenge where we had to use 5 splashes of black paint, 4 word title (or include a word with 4 letters in the title), 3 papers, 2 splotches of Mist and 1 photo.
And a close-up:
The next challenge I completed actually started off as a layout for Sara's colour challenge but I ended up using it for Tara's Sketch Challenge. Don't ask me how I managed to create a layout that was almost identical to the sketch without even knowing what the sketch looked like - guess there is a little bit of magic in us all from time to time ;)

I used lots of my favourite products on these two layouts: October Afternoon, Echo Park, Mr Hueys, Greatest View, Washi Tape ... the list goes on.
Come back tomorrow for more show 'n' tell ... just have to work out how to use the schedule feature lol.
Take care.
