Crazy, Silly - the conclusion

Today's post sees the last of my shares from our scrapping weekend.
Layout 6 - Pool Play .. yep more photos of the boys in the pool. This time it is Lachie showing me his 'moves'. I used a mixture of Studio Calico, Fancy Pants Designs and Lawn Fawn patterned papers on this layout. Love the bright colours but the end product didn't turn out quite as well as I had planned.
Proof that wood veneers, dimensional foam tape, mist and sticker clusters are my friends ;)
Layout 7 - The Farmer ... a rare layout of my husband.  He doesn't enjoy having his photo taken so needless to say there are not many layouts of him ... I usually manage just one or two of him by himself a year.
I managed an 8th layout but I don't have a photo - it was a gift for the daughter of a very special and much-treasured friend ... now just to get creating for the other daughter ;)
Take care.

Crazy, Silly Continued

Back again with more shares from my scrapping weekend.
Layout 4 - Hello Handsome. Totally loving the Trendsetter range from Fancy Pants Designs - perfect for laying bits and pieces on layouts :)
And a close-up of some of the clustering and layering:
Layout 5 - Jump (Perhaps my favourite picture of Mitchell playing in our pool this year)
Lots of bright colours to match Mitchell's super colourful Funky Trunks (the BEST swimming togs I have ever bought - love that they are chlorine resistant). I did hoard one of the stickers attached to the label but I stuffed up when I was attempting to use it ... oh well, I am sure there will be others.
Thanks for stopping by.

Crazy, Silly Times Part 1

It has taken me a week, but I think my ribs and stomach muscles are finally recovered enough to post about the awesome time I had scrapping last weekend with three special ladies - Donna, Lauren and Lisa. To say it was the weekend was a laugh a minute is not an understatement.  As always, I was the proverbial tortoise in the layout race of the tortoise and the hare but who cares when you are surrounded by friends you love and memories that will stick with you long after everyone has forgotten who scrapped what. (Well, that is my story and I am sticking to it.)
Layout 1 - Farmer Mitchell
Layout 2 - First Social (the boys all dressed up for their first school social [dance] late last year.
Layout 3 - Happy Boy. Love, love, love this photo of Lachie taken a few weeks ago.
I will be back with more shares soon.

Scrapbook Savvy April Sketch

Kerryn was in charge of designing this month's sketch over at Scrapbook Savvy. The sketch looks like this:
And this is what I managed to come up with:

And some closeups. Love, love, love the Freckled Fawn Wood Chip Shapes ... swoon ;)
More Freckled Fawn coupled with some Charm's Creations, Flair, Twine and labels.
A nice simple sketch for anyone looking for a quick scrapping fix ;)

SFS Crop-a-thon Bonus Challenges

Well I surprised myself and managed to complete the two bonus challenges for the SFS Easter Crop-a-thon, taking my total number of layouts for the week to 14. I loved the two challenges and have to say that these two layouts would have to be among my favourites of the year so far.

Challenge 1 - use the quote 'Be yourself - everyone else is taken' somewhere on the layout. I love this photo of Lachlan taken on Easter Sunday - this is totally him. I hope he never changes.
And a close-up of some of the clustering. I think I am slowly getting the hang of it ;)
Challenge 2 - use white cardstock as the background and create an embellishment cluster using at least three of the following: doily, flower, butterfly, flair, twine. I chose the doily, flair and twine. This is a fairly quite layout to do. The corrugated paper is actually the packaging off a new set of sheets I bought the morning I made the layout. I peeled the outer layer off to expose the corrugated core - a bit different for me ;)
And a close-up of my favourite embellishment cluster on this layout. After lots of umming and ahhing, I decided not to create an actual title for the layout, but use the vintage Heidi Swapp Verb Sticker as the title instead. To me, the photo says it all <3>
So that's it - all 14 challenges for SFS completed and the extra bonus is that the regular monthly challenges were also some of the crop-a-thon challenges so that is another set of challenges checked off the list :-)
Take care

Crop-a-thon Day 4

Easter Monday saw the final Crop-a-thon challenges posted at SFS.
Challenge 1 - Sketch Challenge:
I think I managed to stick fairly close to the sketch for this layout ... and even busted out a Crafters Workshop mask that had never been used despite being in my stash for quite some time.
Challenge 2 - Colour Challenge using Brown and Red with a touch of black. We had almost two inches of rain on Easter Sunday so the boys and our visitors thought it would be fun to play in the mud. Lachie and his best friend, Hayden, called themselves mud lobsters - so I just had to use that as my title :-)
Challenge 2 - Quote using 'Life is a series of thousands of tiny miracles' in the title or somewhere else on your page. I chose to use it as part of the title. Not sure how clear the picture is for you all but it is of Lachie's hands full of grain from last year's wheat harvest.
Phew, that's it - all 12 layouts completed.  There were two bonus challenges as well, but I haven't got to those ... yet ;)

Easter Sunday Challenges

Easter Sunday saw us spending the day with a very special family. We have only known each other for a handful of years but it feels like a lifetime.  I love the time we spend together - there is no stress, lots of laugh and the boys have mates to play with. Needless to say, there was no scrapping done on the day but luckily for me, Peta is keeping the gallery open until Saturday.
Challenge 1 - Sketch:
I am not entirely happy with how this layout turned out - thinking the lettering is wrong - but it is another one done ;)
Challenge 2 - Colour Challenge using Brown, Red and Blue. I LOVE this photo of Lachlan <3 nbsp="">
Challenge 3 - Quote Challenge. We were given three different quotes from A. A. Milne (creator of Winnie the Pooh) to use. I selected 'Promise me you'll always remember, you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think' and used a photo of Mitchell from the State Swimming Trials last year. The photo is not fully focused but I love it regardless.
Three days down, one to go.

Crop-a-thon Day Two

Easter Saturday at SFS saw a new set of challenges put up.
Challenge 1 - Sketch
This is my take on the sketch. Sort of looks like it, all be it moved down a bit and angles used.  I had a play with texture paste on here but things went a bit wrong - maybe I have to use it a bit more to get the hang of it ;)
Challenge 2 - Colour using Aqua/Turquoise, Black and one other colour. I chose yellow.  Love this colour combination.

Challenge 3 - Quote using "The important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy; it's all that matters". I have used a photo of Lachlan taken in the flood waters earlier this year.
I have to say that I am liking all of these layouts, especially the second one.
Two days down, two to go.

Easter Crop-a-thon Madness

Peta and the girls over at Scrapbooking from Scratch hosted a monster crop-a-thon over the Easter long weekend. There were 3 challenges - a sketch, a quote and colour - set for each day of the weekend and surprisingly, I have managed to complete all of the challenges.  I won't inundate you with them all at once, but take it one day at a time. Here are the Good Friday Challenges:

Challenge 1 - Sketch
For this challenge, I used photos from Mitchell's Cross Country that happened to be on the previous day. He did really well and placed third which means that he moves to the next level of trials.  I am so proud of him - he set himself a goal of coming 4th and did one better - gotta love that!
Challenge 2 - Colour Challenge using Pink, Red and Green. A bit a of different combination for me but I like it. The layout is of our youngest son and the daughter of my other 'sister' (my sister's best friend). Lachie calls Bella his cousin and will not have anyone tell him different.
Challenge 3 - Quote Challenge using 'Life is Good' somewhere on the layout. I decided to use it in my title. I love this layout :o

So that is the wrap up for Day One, three more days to go.
